C4 fraction

The C4 fraction is a mixture of unsaturated and saturated hydrocarbons. Main contents are 1,3-butadiene, isobutene and 1-butene. C4 fraction is a colorless and flammable liquid.

Derivation

The C4 fraction is a product of the thermal cracking of primary gasoline.

In the debutanizer column, which is fed with a stream from the bottom of the depropanizer stripper, a fraction of unsaturated C4 and C5 hydrocarbons is separated.
