Environmental management system

The environmental protection management system, which meets the requirements of international standards of the ISO 14001 series, was introduced in HIP-Petrohemija in 2008. On an annual level, the functionality of the system is controlled by independent auditors.

The implementation of an integrated environmental protection management system in the company enables the assessment of potential risks to the environment and the implementation of measures to prevent negative impacts and ensure environmental safety.

The main processes that ensure safety and environmental protection in HIP-Petrohemija are:

  • Identification of legal requirements
  • Inventory of emission sources and environmental impact assessment
  • Identification of environmental aspects
  • Defining goals in the field of environmental protection and commitment to achieving them
  • Planning in order to avoid impacts on the environment (activities, resources…) – plans of environmental protection actions aimed at mitigating the negative impact on the environment
  • Realization of activities and measures to improve the state of the environment
  • Risk management in the field of environmental protection
  • Management of emissions, industrial hazardous and non-hazardous waste
  • Environmental monitoring (conditions of air, waste water, groundwater and soil at the border, industrial hazardous and non-hazardous waste management activities) – monitoring the impact of activities on the environment middle
  • Revision of the chemicals and environmental safety management system
  • Management of the system for preventing, containing and repairing accidents
  • Training of employees in the field of environmental protection and safety.
