Organization of Fire Prevention processes

The main goal of the Sector for Fire Prevention, Fire Protection (FP) and Emergency Situations (ES) is to define the conditions in the field of fire protection and emergency situations that will provide the Company with a comprehensive system that will be integrated into all segments of the Company. Based on this, starting from the concept of sustainable development, the aim is also to introduce fire protection into all other strategic plans of the Company, and thus to integrate fire protection into all fields of the Company’s overall strategy, but also into its entire policy, program and all development plans and projects.

The fields and units of the Sector for Fire Prevention, Fire Protection and Emergency Situations in which the organizational and technical goals of fire protection should be achieved, are as follows:

  • normative regulations,
  • preventive protection,
  • reactive action,
  • assessment of capacity in knowledge, skills, and required equipment.

Also, through the mention of strategic fields, the basic criteria are provided by which the achievement of the set goals is assessed:

                Normative framework

Changes to the existing normative solutions (operational management of firefighting units within the Instructions for Preventive and Reactive Action of Firefighting Units) are being made, which will define in more detail the regular and emergency activities and services provided by firefighting units at the locations of the Company according to the Decision on the Categorization of the Ministry of the Interior.

                Preventive protection

A priority goal is to establish a fire protection system that is primarily based on the preventive action of all employees in the field of fire protection.

NMDs of the Company in the field of fire protection are in accordance with legal regulations and represent, in addition to the Law, a good basis for supervising of the fire protection system within the Company.

The HSE and FP Department and the Sector for Fire Prevention, Fire Protection and Emergency Situations coordinate the work of all entities of the fire protection system on the issues of organization, planning, preparation and implementation of measures and activities of fire prevention and risk reduction.

                Reactive action

The Sector for Fire Prevention, Fire Protection and Emergency Situations organizes and coordinates the work of firefighting units within the Company and implements solutions that establish a centralized mode of management in work, monitors new technical achievements in the field of its competence, analyses the results of work, proposes the levels of technical equipment of units and provides adequate conditions for the work and accommodation of units.

A significant risk for field work is also posed by technical and technological chemical incidents and accidents in which the effects of hazardous substances may affect not only the location but also neighbouring facilities and settlements nearby.

Providing conditions for effective management of a crisis situation caused by a fire is a priority, so activities will be aimed at improving the efficiency in the evacuation of people and property, providing access to information relevant for early fire detection, increasing the response speed of the firefighting unit, as well as reducing the duration of interventions.
