The golden HSE rules are a set of key guidelines that aim to prevent serious injuries, protect the environment and ensure a healthy and safe working environment for all employees, partners and visitors. These rules are universal, clearly defined and binding for all who reside at the locations of HIP-Petrohemija.
The application of the golden rules is necessary to ensure that each work task is performed with maximum care, responsibility and compliance with the specified standards. They are the result of experiences from the entire industry and rely on the most common causes of serious injuries and incidents.
By applying them, we protect the most important thing – human life, health and the environment. Consistent compliance with these rules creates a culture of safety in which everyone bears responsibility and contributes to a safe working environment.
The basic golden HSE rules at HIP-Petrohemija are the following:
- It is forbidden to perform high-risk activities without a previously issued Work Permit;
- It is forbidden to perform work in confined space without the presence of a person on standby with the obligatory use of rescue equipment;
- It is forbidden to perform work at unsecured height, including climbing-up and coming-down, without using fall protection equipment;
- It is forbidden to perform work, stand and/or move under suspended loads;
- It is forbidden to work in excavations (1 m deep or deeper) without placed protection against collapsing – application of substructures and/or sloping excavations;
- It is forbidden to perform maintenance activities in the Ex-zone without continuous monitoring of the atmosphere.
Violation of the golden HSE rules is a serious safety risk that can lead to injury and even death. For employees and contractors, non-compliance with the rules implies the application of maximum available sanctions in accordance with the HSE policy of HIP-Petrohemija, such as:
- Current interruption of works;
- Removal from the workplace;
- Initiation of disciplinary and sanction procedures.
