REACH at HIP-Petrohemija

REACH is a European law (EC 1907/2006) that came into force in June 2007, covering registration, evaluation, authorization, and restriction of chemicals. The name REACH is an acronym formed from the initials of the English words Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Chemicals.

The main goal of the REACH regulation is to protect human health and the environment from risks that may arise from the use of chemical products. This regulation replaced numerous ordinances related to existing substances, established the procedure for registering new substances and provided restriction of substances that are hazardous or highly hazardous for humans, wildlife, and/or the environment. All substances produced or imported into the European Union in quantities greater than one ton per year must be registered with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) by a certain deadline, which depends on the quantity of the chemicals.

This obligation does not formally apply to manufacturers/exporters outside the European Union, but it does apply to their European customers who would each individually need to register.

To avoid this, a legal form of the Only Representative has been established, who represents manufacturers outside the European Union before the European Chemicals Agency.

As the Only Representative for HIP-Petrohemija in the European Union and in accordance with Article 8 of the REACH regulation, Business Development & Intelligence srl (BD & I srl), 92, rue Omer Lepreux, B-1081, Brussels, Belgium has been designated.

Since a significant portion of its products is exported to the EU market, HIP-Petrohemija has conducted extensive required testing with the aim of meeting all specified REACH obligations on time.

HIP-Petrohemija is pleased to inform its customers and suppliers that all REACH obligations have been fulfilled within the specified deadlines and that a positive decision has been received from the European Chemicals Agency regarding the registration of the substances produced by HIP-Petrohemija. This ensures the continued unobstructed placement and sale of HIP-Petrohemija products on the European Union market.

Polymers (LDPE-HIPTEN®, HDPE-HIPLEX® and SBR-HIPREN) are exempt from registration, but there is an obligation to register monomers and other substances that are components of the polymers.

HIP-Petrohemija hereby confirms that all products contain substances that are either exempt from REACH registration or are registered, with registration statements provided by the suppliers.
